Weibel Family 2009 Estate Bottled Chardonnay, Mendocino
County
Harvest & Tasting Notes
The
2009 harvest was fantastic throughout California. Abundant
spring rains and a temperate growing season produced excellent
fruit quality. The beautiful Indian summer weather that followed
mild rain in early October allowed the grapes to reach optimum
maturity.
Weibel Family Chardonnay vineyards are prized for their
bright fruit flavors and come from several of our estate
vineyards in Mendocino. These vineyards have soil that is
alluvial loam with a rock base which gives excellent drainage.
Weibel hand-crafted this wine using traditional cold
fermentation process in stainless steel tanks and then barrel
aging in combination neutral and new oak barrels from France to
achieve a balance between natural acidity and forward fruit
characteristics typical of Mendocino County chardonnay.
Our 2009 chardonnay is a lovely hue of gold with beautiful
clarity and aromas of pear and vanilla custard. Medium-bodied in
mouth feel, this versatile wine features flavors of white peach
and a lingering finish of vanilla toast and spice.
Weibel Chardonnay is perfect as an apéritif or paired with
poached salmon with caper butter sauce, pasta with lobster and
chive butter or an aged Gruyère cheese. Enjoy through 2013.
